Underbank 46-0 KXP First game for a while, cross were very rusty. We played some great rugby in the first half but our defence let us down, we didn’t put Underbank under any pressure and it cost us. Going forward we created gaps with some great ball handling and line running we just couldn’t get over that try line. Second half started with a few easy tries for Underbank then we started getting the ball more and was on Underbanks line for some time. The lads never gave in and used the ball well with some great runs on the wing, but sloppy defending cost us more tries in the second half and the game finished 46-0. Man of the match Matthew Brown

KXP 0-34 WEST BOWLING
Cross put in there biggest effort this season against one of the strongest sides in this league.
Its really hard to pick out individuals for this game as it was such a big team effort. We started with some very strong tackling, this time we tackled in pairs instead of one on one which is what we have missed in other games. George Lincoln, Josh Binns and Jordan Symes all tackling hard forcing Bowling into some ball errors, but Cross were guilty of the same silly errors which made Bowling get closer to our line. Alex McDonald among others did great getting off the line and cutting Bowling down, unfortunately tiredness kicked in and they eventually broke us.
Cross still couldn’t keep hold of the ball and West Bowling took every chance they were given. Some great running from Luke Sainsbury and a great ball from Josh Robertshaw to Jordan Symes helped us eventually get to Bowlings line, but silly decisions again saw Bowling hold out and win the ball back only for them to make there way down and get over for a couple more and make it 26-0 at half time.
Second half saw Cross defending straight away as tiredness was still the problem from all the defending in the first half, Bowling could only score out wide in the second half using there overlap well to score two early tries. Cross did get a second wind and saw a lot more of the ball with some good running from Mat Brown and Josh Binns. Cross chipped the ball over and a good chase forced them to kick the ball dead for a drop out. Bowling won the ball back and broke our line all the lads were chasing back but great speed and desire from Billy Clewley and Luke Sainsbury caught the lad and dragged him into touch. Cross lacked a bit of creativity in Bowlings half but without doubt I think once that comes we will get some good results. Improvements all over the field at the weekend from all the lads, keep up the hard work in training and the results will start coming our way.
Good work boys!!
Training on Saturday is at 10am on the moor. On Sunday we are at home to West Bowling meeting at the club at 10am the kick off is at 11am,anyone not available please let Danny or Martin know, thanks.

Ovenden 12-12 King cross park
King Cross Park can feel a little hard done by with some very questionable decisions from the referee denying them there first win of the season.
Cross started very quiet and it took some great strong tackling by Danny Cutts to keep Ovenden to just 2 tries in the opening ten minutes. After we went 12-0 down we woke up and started making the possession count with some good hands from Alex McDonald gave Josh Binns and Mat Brown some good runs. Running down the middle wasn’t helping so Billy Clewley tried to put George Lincoln down the wing but he had to cut back inside, a strong end to the first half.
Cross started the second half much better winning the ball back straight from kick off. We kept the pressure on Ovenden with some strong drives to the corner, good hands down the line saw Alex McDonald put Jordan Symes over for our first try of the game. Cross got the ball back again from kick off with some great kicking from Jordan Symes, a couple of good scoots from Josh Robertshaw put more pressure on the defence forcing them to give away a penalty. A couple of drives to the centre helped George Lincoln scoot and catch the defence of guard to get over under the sticks. Ovenden then started getting a bit more possession but some strong tackling from Cross kept them out, Cross started to make their way down the pitch with some good running and fast play of the ball kept them on the back foot and Josh Binns dived over the try line to make it 12 a piece.
A confident performance has helped lift the lads spirits and give them belief. Well done lads.

Siddal 32 v KXP 8
An improving KXP team took on Siddal for the second time in three weeks. KXP started on the back foot as from the kick Siddal made good ground to get near KXP try line and passing the ball out wide to score the first try of the match. KXP hit back in defence with a hight tempo line speed and strong tackling from Billy Clewley and Kieran Baxter stopping Siddal from attacking down the middle but Siddal going out wide again to score on the wing. After the kick off KXP show their attacking skill with good runs from Taylor Foulds-Clare and Matthew Brown to put KXP in a good position on the field. KXP built pressure on the Siddal try line as Siddal gave away too many penalties and Jordan Symes took the two point on offer under the post to make it 8 2. Siddal Scored just before the end of the first half to make it 12 2 at the break.
KXP had a great start to the second half driving the ball up field with strong runs from Jimmy Nicholl, Luke Sainsbury and Danny Cutts. Siddal gave away another penalty which saw KXP kicked for touch to get closer to Siddal try line. A high kick close to Siddals line from Jordan Symes and a good chase from KXP saw Josh Binns dive over the line and touch the ball down with his finger tips to score. KXP won the ball back from the kick off and kept piling on the pressure but could not go over the try line again.
It was a massive effort from the whole team in defence and attack to keep the score 12 8 for most of the match but tired minds and legs showed towards the end of the game as Siddal used the fast men to score 4 tries in the final 10 minute. KXP never let their heads drop and showed how good they can be and every one should be proud of how the lads have improved since the start of the season and its only a matter of time before there first win comes. Well done lads.
Training on Saturday will be on the same pitch as last week @10am.
On Sunday we are away to Siddal in a West Riding cup match, meet @the club 9am kick off is @10am .
Anyone going straight to Siddal please let Martin or Ben know, thanks

Sunday's game is at home to Keighley Albion meet @ 9am with kick off @ 10
Sunday 4th October
KXP 18 v Keighley Albion 32 KXP had played their first home game of the season this weekend which ended in defeat against Keighley Albion.
KXP didn’t have the best of start as Keighley scored first but KXP didn’t let their head drops as they made good yard up the field with runs from Josh Binns and Alex McDonald to get close to Keighley try line. Keighley gave away a penalty and quick thinking from Jordan Syme with a quick tap saw him dive over the try line to make the scores even. KXP was strong in defence against Keighley but a repeat set saw Keighley go over again. KXP got the ball back from the kick off and made their way down field and quick hands down the line saw Jimmy Nichol power over the line. KXP got the ball back from a short kick off which saw Josh Robertshaw get the ball and show great speed and agility to get pass the Keighley team and score to put KXP in front. Towards the end of the first half KXP was stuck defending on their own try line when tiredness kick in and Keighley went over for the try to make it all square at half time.
KXP started the second half well getting into a great position on the field to attack as Billy Cleweley showed his pace as he ran down the wing and around the Keighley team to score the try under the posts but KXP could not kick on from the good start as Keighley hit back with two quick tries. KXP still tried there hardest but just could not find away passed Keighley defence and tired legs showed as Keighley went over in the last minute to make the final score 18 32.
Siddal 54 KXP 0
Kxp always knew this would be a tough match with only 13 men throughout the game. We started really well in defence, Siddal couldn’t find a way through even with their big lads, KXP held them up and when we did get the ball, sloppy skills made us defend again. Tiredness came in and siddal went over. Positives from the game were when we decided to move up in defence siddal panicked and knocked on but we couldn’t keep the pressure on throughout the game which allowed siddal in for some easy tries.
At this moment its a learning curve and if the lads keep up training like they are and try to put it into a game we will be a side to be reckoned with before the end of the season, just keep going lads!
